TELUS Executive Vice President Janet Yale is clearly proud. Never mind that
AFP International just announced that TELUS will receive its top (global) philanthropic corporate award for 2010 in Baltimore this April (the first
Canadian company to receive the honour). As the head of TELUS' community investment portfolio in Canada, Janet seems most proud of the fact that
TELUS has managed to ingrain a culture of philanthropy throughout the
company.
I interviewed Janet earlier this week and found her remarkably forthcoming
about how TELUS has implemented a democratic and decentralized
approach to corporate philanthropy. She also opened up about what charities need to know to be successful in requesting support from TELUS,

The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation: Deadline February 28, 2010
The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation provides funding to stimulate and invigorate non-profit organizations in the cultural and creative arts and the social services who serve communities throughout British Columbia and the Yukon. Starting in 2010, the new single application deadline will be February 28th for all three areas of funding by the Foundation - cultural and creative arts, social services, and pre-professional students in the arts.
The Laidlaw Foundation: Deadline March 15, 2010
The Laidlaw Foundation promotes positive youth development through inclusive youth engagement in the arts, environment and in community.
